Velvet Vale emerged from a simple observation: many Australians feel disconnected from the rich cultural heritage that surrounds them. Whether Indigenous knowledge passed down through millennia or the traditions brought by waves of migrants, these threads of wisdom often remain invisible in daily life.
Founded in 2018, we set out to create meaningful encounters between people and the cultural traditions that shape our shared landscape. Our programmes are not performances or exhibitions; they are participatory experiences designed to transmit real skills and genuine understanding.
We work exclusively with cultural practitioners who carry authentic knowledge. Our Aboriginal art instructors are practising artists from communities with direct lineage to the traditions they teach. Our heritage guides are trained historians with deep connections to the stories they share.
Every workshop, tour, and event we facilitate operates under cultural protocols established in partnership with relevant communities. We do not extract or appropriate; we collaborate and compensate fairly.
We believe that cultural knowledge belongs to communities, not institutions. Our role is to facilitate connections, not to become gatekeepers. Revenue from our programmes directly supports cultural preservation initiatives chosen by our partner communities.

Eleanor brings fifteen years of experience in cultural heritage management. She previously served as programmes coordinator at the National Museum of Australia.

David manages our relationships with cultural communities and ensures all partnerships operate with integrity and mutual benefit.

Amara oversees the logistics of our workshops and tours, ensuring every participant has a seamless and enriching experience.
We never dilute or modify traditions for convenience. If something cannot be shared appropriately, we do not share it.
Knowledge shared deserves compensation. Our fee structures ensure fair payment to all cultural practitioners.
Cultural education should not be exclusive. We offer sliding scale pricing and subsidised places for those facing financial barriers.
